*******What's in next months issue?*******

The September 2001 issue will be all about creating and using Multimedia in FrontPage-based Web sites.

<<<*******>>>

NOTE: I receive my MS FP Bulletin one month late, now I have found the http://microsoftfrontpage.com/ site, I will be able to post the bulletins sooner. However please note the bulletins one receives via subscription at MS are not the same format as the site bulletins and that the msfp site also contains other information. There is one other important point to note and that is the archives at microsoftfrontpage.com do not as far as back as these, so if you want to look back this is the place to do it! You can also obtain the bulletins as FREE E-books with your membership of AnyFrontPage Bytes.

TIPS AND TRICKS

CREATE HYPERLINKS IN PHOTO GALLERY CAPTIONS
You can use the Photo Gallery feature in FrontPage version 2002 to quickly create a faculty staff directory on your school Web site. By adding captions and descriptions below each picture with Hyperlinks within each caption, students can jump to a teacher’s schedule and contact, course or special activities information.

In FrontPage 2002, when a Photo Gallery is created, folders and a number of files are automatically created by FrontPage. You can edit one of these files, named “real.htm”, to add custom Hyperlinks within your Photo Gallery.

To create captions or descriptions below your images and make Hyperlinks in them, open a new page and create a new photo gallery or open a page with an existing gallery in FrontPage 2002, and do the following:

1. Right-click anywhere on the photo gallery in Normal view and select Photo Gallery Properties.
2. To add captions and descriptions to images in your gallery, select an image from the list under the Add button.
3. Add text in the Caption: and Description: text areas, for the image.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3, then click OK for each image and save the page.
5. After FrontPage saves the page, in Folder List view, look for the folder named "Photogallery", open it and open the folder inside named "PhotoXXX" (where XXX is a random number).
6. Inside PhotoXXX, double click the file, “real.htm” to open it in Page view.

Note: Do not edit any other .htm files in the “PhotoXXX” folder.

7. Select the text under an image, right-click it, and select Hyperlink… in the dropdown menu.
8. In Insert Hyperlink create a hyperlink, click OK and save the page.
