NOTE: I receive my MS FP

the

will be able to post the bulletins sooner.
However please note the bulletins one
receives via subscription at MS are not the
same format as the site bulletins and that
the msfp site also contains other
information. There is one other important
point to note and that is the archives at
microsoftfrontpage.com do not as far as back
as these, so if you want to look back this
is the place to do it! You can also obtain
the bulletins as

>PATCH TO BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR USERS OF FRONTPAGE PERSONAL WEB SERVER (FPWS)
>
>Microsoft will release a patch to remedy a potential security
vulnerability that has recently come to our attention and affects certain
versions of the FrontPage Personal Web Server (FPWS). This potential
security vulnerability could allow a hacker to access any file on the
Personal Web Server if the hacker correctly guesses the file name and uses
a non-standard URL. The security problem does not affect the Microsoft
Personal Web Server (PWS) that ships with FrontPage 98, FrontPage 97,
FrontPage 1.1, or the Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, and
Windows NT operating systems. The security problem only affects servers
being used as a live server running Windows 95 or Windows 98.
(Windows
NT-based systems are not affected.) Since the FrontPage Personal Web
Server is not installed by default in FrontPage 98, this potential problem
affects a small number of users. You can find out how to tell which
Personal Web Server you are running, and find out more about the patch, at
the Web page listed above.

>A SHOWCASE FOR WEB SITES CREATED WITH FRONTPAGE
>
>The Web sites listed below come from the thousands of submissions we've
received to our request for "killer Web sites." Our intent is to
highlight
sites that will provide you with new ideas, inspiration, and examples for
your own Web sites. Thanks to those of you who have submitted sites.
We
will continue to highlight more of them in upcoming issues.
>
>--Underneath.com
><http://www.underneath.com>

Critic reviews movies strictly on their entertainment value and tells you
what movies are good to sit through. Check out how they use affiliate
selling to help subsidize the costs of producing such a great site.

>--Camano Marine
><http://www.camanocom.com/camarine/>
>Through the use of FrontPage-based forms, databases, and the Database
Region Wizard in FrontPage 98, Camano Marine's Web site allows users to
narrow their outboard motor search to only those products that meet their
specifications. Camano Marine also made use of the FrontPage Theme
designer to create its own custom FrontPage theme for this site.
>
>--The Chocolate Vault

>IMPROVING YOUR KEYWORD "DENSITY"
>
>In addition to the "keywords" meta tag described in a previous
article,
search engines also look at the placement of your keywords elsewhere on
your Web pages. Generally, they look at the "description" meta
tag, the
"title" tag, and the content of your Web pages. Each search
engine has its
own way of analyzing the placement of your key words and key concepts in
your page and its own way of evaluating the resulting "keyword
density."
In this article you will see how you can optimize your keyword density.
>
>ADDING A SEARCH FORM TO YOUR WEB
><http://www.microsoft.com/workshop/languages/fp/dev/search.asp>
>
>How do people find things on the Web? At portal sites like the MSN,
there
are two main ways: navigating through a directory or typing in keywords.
So, how do people find things on your Web site? FrontPage makes it easy.
It has a built-in search feature that you can use to add a search form to
your pages quickly. We examine this feature in this article.
>
>GET ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS THROUGH THE FRONTPAGE NEWSGROUPS
><http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/newsgroups/newsFrontPage.htm>
>
>We receive numerous e-mails from users of FrontPage asking for help on all
sorts of FrontPage-related topics. While we do our best to create articles
that answer the most common of these questions, we unfortunately can't get
to all of them. If you don't find answers to your questions on the Site
Builder Network Web site, at
<http://www.microsoft.com/workshop/languages/fp>,
there is another
option--the peer-to-peer newsgroups for FrontPage. Users of all skill
levels participate in the newsgroups to spread their FrontPage know-how.
And who knows, you may be able to help someone else as well.
