NOTE: I receive my MS FP

the

will be able to post the bulletins sooner.
However please note the bulletins one
receives via subscription at MS are not the
same format as the site bulletins and that
the msfp site also contains other
information. There is one other important
point to note and that is the archives at
microsoftfrontpage.com do not as far as back

is the place to do it! You can also obtain
the bulletins as

*** OFFICE 2000 SR-1a AVAILABLE NOW ***
****************************************
http://news.microsoft.co.uk/FP2006005126
The Office 2000 Service Release 1a (SR-1a) update is available for download on
the Office Update Web. The update includes the original Office 2000 SR-1
update and adds to it the functionality of the Office 2000/Windows 2000 Registry
Repair Utility - and this is the only difference between the two.
Microsoft recommends that all users of Office 2000 install the SR-1a update.
For the latest information and to download, check out the address above.

*** MICROSOFT WINDOWS 2000 AND PERSONAL WEB SERVER ***
******************************************************
http://news.microsoft.co.uk/FP2006005127
Some of you who are now using Microsoft Windows 2000 have asked how to use the
Personal Web Server (PWS) with it. PWS does not run on Windows 2000, so
you will need to use Internet Information Services (IIS) instead, which is
included in Windows 2000 Professional. For more information and how to
install IIS see the Knowledge Base article at the Web address above.

*** SHARE YOUR FRONTPAGE TIPS AND TRICKS ***

win a prize and be published on our Web site!

*** QUICK TIPS ***
******************
This month we have a handful of quick tips to make working with FrontPage even
easier.
WHAT'S GOING ON?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you want to know exactly what's going on behind the scenes on a page but the
thought of looking at the HTML code isn't an attractive one, then try out these
two keyboard shortcuts. Use Ctrl Shift 8 if you want to see the
non-printing characters that you've used - Returns and Shift Returns, for
example. Alternatively, if it's formatting you're more interested in, use
Ctrl / to see the HTML tags that have been applied. Both of these keyboard
shortcuts are toggles and should be used in Normal view.
A QUICK LOOK
~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you regularly preview your pages in the browser then you might find the
keyboard shortcut Ctrl Shift B a quick alternative to clicking on the Preview in
Browser toolbar button.
SHOW ME THE PROPERTIES!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The properties for any item on a page are important things, controlling as they
do the overall look of an item. If you have an item selected then pressing
Alt Enter will quickly display the properties for that selection.
*** NEW TIPS FROM SCREAMDESIGN ***
**********************************
http://news.microsoft.co.uk/FP2006005129
This month, ScreamDesign, a major online resource for Web design knowledge and
tools, gives users of FrontPage three great new tips. Visit their Web site at
the address above and read tips on the following:
- adding permissions to a Web page
- creating tables within tables
- using the Script Editor to add scripts to a Web page
*******************************************************
*** JAVASCRIPT SOURCE TIP: USING COOKIES TO REDIRECT VISITORS
*******************************************************
http://news.microsoft.co.uk/FP2006005130
This easy-to-implement code allows you to set up a Web page that redirects your
visitors to different pages based on the value of a stored cookie. If no
cookie is found, the available items are displayed, users make their choices,
and then a cookie is set for their next visit. The demo code can easily be
modified to fit your needs - simply change and use the cut-and-paste code found
at the address above.
******************************************************
*** APPLYING DYNAMIC HTML EFFECTS TO TEXT IN SHARED BORDERS
******************************************************
You'll find if you've ever tried to apply dynamic HTML effects to text in a
shared border that the options on the Dynamic HTML Effects toolbar aren't
available. However, there is a way around this if you know the following
trick. First of all, open the appropriate shared border file (ie top.htm,
left.htm, right.htm or bottom.htm) in the _borders folder. Then
select the text and the Dynamic HTML effects will now be available to apply.
If you don't see the _borders folder in your folders list, go to the Tools menu,
select Web Settings, click the Advanced tab, and make sure the check box
labelled "Show documents in hidden directories" is selected.
*** FIND OUT MORE ABOUT MICROSOFT VISIO 2000 ***
************************************************
http://news.microsoft.co.uk/FP2006005135
Every day business workers like you are learning that visuals can help get a
point across to customers and co-workers. We communicate using one of
three methods - words, numbers or pictures. In business we generally only
communicate our words and numbers using text documents and spreadsheets - so
what about the pictures?
With Visio, drawings that were created with pen and paper can now be easily
edited and shared within all Office applications. Visio 2000 will help you
create diagrams to make an impact, such as flowcharts, organisation charts,
timelines and even a mind map of your thoughts, which you can share with others.
Microsoft Visio 2000 is the newest member of the Office family and to find out
more, visit the site above.
