*** TIP: CREATING AND CENTRING A BACKGROUND IMAGE ***
*****************************************************
If you need a Web page background that doesn't move as you scroll the page, then
there's a Watermark check box in the Page Properties dialog box to help you
achieve this. However, if you use this you'll find that the image that you
choose is tiled across the background. What if you want a single image
beautifully positioned on your background that doesn't move? Well, help is
at hand - read on!
Select the page that should have this background added, right click on it and
choose Page Properties. Select the General tab and then click on the Style
button. Click on the Format button, select the Border option and then click on
the Shading tab. Click on the Browse button and then select the image you want
as the watermark and click OK. Choose Center from both the Vertical Position
list box and the Horizontal Position list box. Choose No-repeat from the Repeat
list box and choose Fixed from the Attachment list box. Click OK three times and
save the page. Try previewing the page in the browser and when you scroll down
you'll see that the image will stay centred as your background.
**************************************************
*** TIP: POSITION BOXES - HAVE YOU TRIED THEM? ***
**************************************************
Well, have you?! You can be forgiven if you haven't come across this very useful
feature since it doesn't actually appear on any of the FrontPage menus... So,
first things first, let's add a Position Box button to one of your toolbars.
Right click on any toolbar, choose Customise and then select the Commands tab.
Select the Insert category and then drag the Position Box command to any of your
toolbars. Sorted.
Now, what does it do, this Position Box? Well, let's have a look. Get yourself a
blank page and click on the Position Box button. A box appears on your page,
selected, with its handles showing. Type some text in this box - your Company
name, for example. Then insert a picture while the box is still selected and
right align it. Resize the Position Box using the handles so that the picture is
a bit closer to the company name. Still making sure that the Position Box is
selected, go to the Format menu, choose Position and select the Absolute option.
And now for the clever bit. You've now got a Position Box that you can move
anywhere on the page by clicking and dragging it, and the text and graphic
within it will move too, but keep their relative position to each other. Just
what you've always wanted!
