NOTE: I receive my MS FP Bulletin one month late, now I have found the http://microsoftfrontpage.com/ site, I will be able to post the bulletins sooner. However please note the bulletins one receives via subscription at MS are not the same format as the site bulletins and that the msfp site also contains other information. There is one other important point to note and that is the archives at microsoftfrontpage.com do not as far as back as these, so if you want to look back this is the place to do it! You can also obtain the bulletins as FREE E-books with your membership of AnyFrontPage Bytes.

*** WHAT'S IN A NAME IN FRONTPAGE 2000 ***
******************************************
http://news.microsoft.co.uk/FP05004754

As you may well know, in Microsoft FrontPage 2000, a Web page can have three different names that identify it: the file name, the page title, and the navigation label. The article at the address above explains where each name appears, how FrontPage sets the names when you create a new page, and how you can work with this method for naming pages.

*** SHARE YOUR FRONTPAGE TIPS AND TRICKS ***

If you have a FrontPage or other Office 2000 tip or trick you would like to share with your fellow FrontPage and Office users, send them to us; you could win a prize and be published on our Web site!

*** SCREAMDESIGN TIP: CREATING TEMPLATES IN FRONTPAGE ***
*********************************************************
http://news.microsoft.co.uk/FP05004756
http://news.microsoft.co.uk/FP05004757

If you regularly create Web pages of a similar format, you can take an existing page and turn it into a FrontPage template to use as a base for further pages.  To turn a FrontPage-created Web page into a template, open the page in FrontPage and choose Save As from the File menu.  Supply a suitable name for the template and choose FrontPage Template in the Save as type list box.  The file name will now have the extension .TEM.  Click on the Save button and the template is now ready for use.  For further details, see ScreamDesign's related tutorial at the first Web site above.

ScreamDesign adds new tips and tricks regularly to their Web site. Check them out at the second address above.

*** ZD JOURNALS TIP: SPECIFYING CROSS-BROWSER BORDER COLOURS ***
*********************************************************
http://news.microsoft.co.uk/FP05004758
http://news.microsoft.co.uk/FP05004759

When you access the Cell Properties or Table Properties dialog box in FrontPage, you'll find three options for setting the border colour: Border, Light Border, and Dark Border.  Why so many choices?  Well, essentially it's because different browsers recognize different options.  Netscape Navigator 4 and later will only recognize the Border setting that affects the whole border, while Internet Explorer 4 and later will recognize the Border setting as well as the settings on the Light Border and Dark Border dropdown menus. (The Light Border setting affects the top and left edges, while the Dark Border setting affects the bottom and right edges.)  If you specify light and dark colours, Internet Explorer will ignore the catchall setting, and in fact older browsers will ignore ALL the border-colour selections you make.

This tip was provided by Inside Microsoft FrontPage, a ZD Journals publication.  For a free* issue, visit the second Web address above.
