FRONTPAGE AND BUSINESS
HTML FOR BEGINNERS
By Joannie Kervran Stangeland
Web convention says you can learn how to
build a home page by looking at someone
else's code. But when you click Source in
your browser's View menu, that code looks
like an impenetrable jungle. Feeling lost?
Take a deep breath. The basic HTML building
blocks are easier than you think.

DYNAMIC HTML: THE

The Component Object Model (COM) provided by dynamic HTML (DHTML) gives
developers the ability to dynamically update the content, style, and structure
of Web-based content, while providing them with detailed control over the
appearance, interactivity, and multimedia elements required for a polished and
exciting program.

TABLES: WEB DESIGN IN A NUTSHELL
By Jennifer Niederst
HTML tags for creating tables were originally developed for presenting rows and
columns of tabular data; however, designers quickly co-opted them as a valuable
tool for controlling the layout of Web pages. The World Wide Web Consortium
(W3C) standard for tables is a great deal more complex than previous standards.
It makes an effort to bring context and structure to table data, as well as to
provide systems for incremental display and display on a variety of platforms
(such as speech-based browsers).

The SharePoint Team Services style guide, excerpted from the FrontPage 2002

consistent with other site content. Find out how to customize your SharePoint
Team Services site at:
