TIPS AND TRICKS
DYNAMIC EFFECTS WITH WEB COMPONENTS IN FRONTPAGE
Using the Insert Web Component feature in FrontPage, you can make your site more dynamic by quickly creating visual effects such as hover or animated buttons, adding a Java applet, and much more.
This tip is for advanced users who understand the basics of Java applets. To add a Java applet using FrontPage, open a Web page in Page view, select an insertion point on the page, and do the following:
1. On the Insert menu, click Web Component.
2. In the left pane, click Advanced Controls.
3. In the right pane, double-click Java Applet.
4. Do one or more of the following in the Java Applet Properties dialog box:
In the Applet source box, type the name of the Java applet source file. These files usually have a CLASS file name extension.
In the Applet base URL box, type the URL of the folder containing the Java applet source file (if it's not in the same directory as your Web page).
In the Message for browsers without Java support box, type the HTML or plain text that will appear in place of the Java applet on Web browsers that do not support Java applets.
Under Applet parameters, for each parameter that you want to pass to the Java applet, click Add and then type the parameter name and value (if required).
Note: Consult the documentation that comes with the Java applet and then specify the correct parameter names as well as legal values for each parameter.
Under Layout and Size, specify the alignment, horizontal and vertical spacing, and width and height (in pixels) for the Java applet.
